It doesn’t get much more American than a good ol’ apple pie…but it can get more ‘Murican! We present to you: Apple Pie with Bacon Lattice!

Apple Pie with Bacon Lattice

Ingredients

  • pie crust - 1, 9 inch
  • apples - 6, peeled & thinly sliced
  • sugar - 2/3 cup
  • flour - 2 tbsp
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • salt - pinch
  • bacon - 8-10 slices

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350F

2. Line a 9" pie plate with rolled out dough. Trim & crimp the edges.

3. Peel and slice the apples into a large bowl.

4. In a small bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.

5. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples and toss to coat.

6. Pile the apples into the crust and spread them out evenly.

7. Place 4 slices of bacon evenly across the apples. Weave the other 4 pieces over and under the first 4, tucking any ends in alongside the apples.

8. Bake for an hour, until the apples are tender, the bacon is crisp, and the crust is golden.

9. Let the pie set for at least 30 minutes before slicing
